OUR CLUB
Welcome to the Surfers Paradise Swimming Club, we provide a nurturing environment for young swimmers aged 5 through to 17 years. We are a non-profit sporting organization, a club which has a solid history that began some 20 years ago. Each season we see the return of many of our valued long term members, and our growth continues with the warm welcome we extend to new members and their families. We are a friendly, family orientated club that operates as a result of a committee of dedicated volunteer parents, whose sole intention is to ensure that the kids have fun!
We are proud that we are able to offer the community of young people solid pathways to the many swimming opportunities available. We offer all swimmers, regardless of their swimming level or ability, the opportunity to participate in the wonderful sport of swimming. Our aim is to promote health & fitness for all young people in a supportive and affordable manner. Our club encourages team spirit, providing assistance to each individual in their efforts to achieve their personal goals and grow their confidence through the support of friendships made within the club.
All club activities are conducted and operated by the wonderful efforts of our very valued volunteer parents and carers. Our Club Nights are held each Friday night from 5.30pm till approximately 7.30pm from September through to April, allowing for a short break over the Christmas holiday period. It is a fun and social family night for everyone. Each week we hold a BBQ, this is our main source of fundraising, we offer light refreshments and there is something on the menu for all to enjoy. The ‘Kids Snack Deals’ have proven to be very popular with the children, giving their parents a great plan for Friday night’s dinner!
Parents are one of the main secrets to success in the world of swimming. They are the people who offer access to the sport, give moral support, and also ensure that meets or carnivals can be run. Volunteering means that you not only have another avenue to have a great impact in your child’s athletic environment, but it also gives you a fun setting in which to meet other adults and make new friends.
Our club holds an annual Club Championship Carnival; which usually takes place at the end of the season, where all club swimmers compete for trophies. Trophies are also awarded each season for our individual aged champions; the points accumulated over the entire season and are calculated fairly and based on a system so that achieving this ultimate goal is within reach of every club member.
